Cosmo's Story

One of our Volunteers saw an ad from New York on the Internet with a picture of a big black horse in horrible condition. She knew this horse from years ago and remembered he was the nicest and funniest horse she had ever met. She knew she had to call the owner and try to strike a deal before he sent him to auction.

She was able to purchase Cosmo and get him trailered to her house.  He was extremely thin, exhausted from the trip, and very very dehydrated. His feet were in horrible condition along with his coat (very rough and patchy).

Cos could barely stand. He had been living in a stall without anything for weeks.  He had not seen the light of day for quite a period of time.  She put him in a stall immediately, offered him a little food and water and called the vet.

While waiting for the vet, she let him walk around a small paddock outside. He wanted out in the sun soooo badly. Cosmo tried to trot around with his head and tail high like the proud horse he once was. Of course, he was not strong enough to do that and his hindend gave out on him. He fell pretty hard. Obviously a mistake to let him out so soon.....

The vet arrived and knew immediately that he was probably full of worms. She did a fecal count test and it came back the next day with results of "Very Heavy Worm count".  She told our volunteer that it was the highest level she had ever seen in a "LIVE" horse.

Cosmo was a fighter!  He now lives at Dream Big and has his huge personality and sassiness back.  What a joy to see him run around with his head and tail high showing just how proud of himself he is!

So, with that, please be advised that it’s finally official: Cosmo’s forever home, Dream Big at Moseley Manor, is a certified 501(c)(3) organization. A real nonprofit, a sanctuary dedicated to being a safe haven for animals once unwanted, abandoned, discarded, abused, injured, or forgotten.

If you love animals and want to support what I do, please make a tax-deductible donation in one of the following always. I can assure you it will be put to good use.

Because animals are so worth it. They’re important. Thank you.
